Religion...
Let's talk about religious philosophy...Do we really have to?...LETS!!...Uh, o.k....
Here are some finer points to religion which I am pondering of late.
Intelligent Design. Really, everyone who is against it always brings up creationism and the bible. While most religious adherents believe that the creation story(s) in the bible are rote, it should be considered that a higher being (God) has created the earth as a whole and that it happened whenever it happened as science is proving. Perhaps the earth was actually created millions of years ago and man has evolved by natural selection to our present form, however developing from some strain of microorganism into our present state is a ridiculous concept.
On science, perhaps there are a great many things which God has created and it's man's wisdom to figure out the inner workings and the knowing of it. I don't see monkeys or dolphins doing experiments in microbiology or astrophysics.
Why would God let man know science? I believe God has let us do as we please; perhaps we are one great experiment.
Here are some killer thoughts.
The bible was written for the people of it's time; there are some still valid and valuable lessons to be learned in there.
Fate is not a written in stone, already decided thing. I saw a bumper sticker that read, "Leave it all up to God" That's as ridiculous as, "Kill 'em all; let God sort 'em out!" I believe prayer can help, but it you are in a jam, you better think it through or seek counseling. Find a Priest!
